Learning Through Indigenous Stories and Art

One of our Directors, Alex, volunteers with One City Peterborough. During a recent Board meeting, members were invited to share books, music, films, television, poetry, and other works by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis creators that have shaped their thinking and deepened their understanding. We're grateful to One City Peterborough for allowing us to share these recommendations with our community.

Reconciliation is an ongoing commitment to learning, listening, and building relationships. Stories, music, and art offer opportunities to hear lived experiences, celebrate Indigenous cultures, and better understand the histories and realities that continue to shape communities across Canada.

Whether you're looking for your next novel, a new artist to listen to, or a documentary to watch, we hope this collection encourages you to explore the work of Indigenous creators and perspectives. You don't need to work through the entire list. Even choosing one book, one album, or one film is a meaningful place to begin.
